Forced Air Furnace Fan Setting Won't Work
I searched for this answer and could not find it. I am not sure which brand of furnace I have. When I opened the cover it says the model number is G1N80AT100D14B-2. My furnace works great on heat. Now that it is hot outside I would like to run the fan setting to get some extra circulation in the house. I don't have A/C. How do I hookup my furnace to only operate the fan? I tried using the "on" setting on the thermostat on both the heat and cool setting but that didn't work. I am a novice so please walk me step by step. I am hoping I just switch one of the jumpers on the circuit board. By the way, I don't believe that my thermostat is even hooked up to the cool setting at all. Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I'm new here. I have an oil furnace in the basement of my house with the on/off switch mounted on it. I would like to move this switch to door entering my basement. I know I'll 1/2 inch EMT conduit and related connectors and wire for the run. But, I do not know what guage wire I need for this. It's approx. 50 feet from furnace location to on/off switch box location on the furnace. Thank you for your help. Roger
I bought a Panasonic FV-13VKS3 vent fan. The fan is designed to run continuously at a preset lower level (e.g. 50CFM) that can then be elevated to its max level (130CFM) when switched on. When switched off, the fan has its own built-in, adjustable countdown timer that returns the fan back to the low setting.
What I would like to do is use a Leviton LTB30-1LZ to control the high fan level. For example, I would set the fan's built-in timer to 5 minutes. And when I switch on the LTB30 for 30 minutes, the fan will kick in to high mode for 30 minutes, then the LTB30 turns off and triggers the fan's built-in timer for an additional 5 minutes before returning to the low setting. My question is, is this possible and how would I wire this? Looking at the fan's wiring diagram, I think the two red wires from the fan would be used to switch the fan's built-in timer. But I'm unsure where to connect these two red wires onto the Leviton timer.
I am looking for a wall switch to replace the one lost during remodeling. This is for our whole house attic fan. It looked like a light switch but was metal and had a Hi/Low/Off setting. It is a seperate box from the dial. (the dial does not turn it on or off, we have to have the switch) We have described this to three local hardware stores and our family electrician and no one knows what we are talking about. From searching online, I see these are included when buying the entire whole house fan system, but can not find just the switch. What do I ask for at the hardware store? What will work? Where can I find a replacement switch? (I assume this fan is from the 70s when the house was built)
remodeling basement ..don't want to tape into my furnace for heat ... have one large room 480' sq. and am thinking of using two or three baseboard electric heaters [possibly Cadet 6 Ft. 1500 Watt 240 Volt Electric] as heat source on outside walls ..out side walls insulated and basement not real cold ...I'm doing electrical now ..do these need to have there own independent run or can they be wired to 3 basement pull chain lights which I seldom use and are on a 15 amp circuit .........the basement remodel has 3 separate runs [ 2 lights 1 outlets ] ..thanks for any advise

When repairing a light switch I came across this wiring in a supposed 3-way setting in my kitchen. Two Single Pole Double Throw switches controlling a single light fixture.
Check out the quick and dirty wiring diagram showing the way these are connected. I believe there should be a 14/3 between the two switches right? All I see is 14/2 coming in and a 14/2 going across to the other switch, and then a 14/2 going to the light. And why are the neutrals cut and wire capped? This doesn't make sense to me, but the light does work from both switches. Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
Hello DIY, I recently bought a CE impact tool (110 blades) and there's a hi-lo adjust, and I can't seen to get it to hi setting, any ideas?
Hello all. I'm new on the forums and new to electricial. I bought a house recently and found some outdoor outlets that don't work. Only one does. I've searched the forums and found some troubleshooting steps such as reset all the GFI outlets in house, but that didn't resolve the issue. None of the outdoor outlets are GFI (they don't have a button). I only have one circuit breaker and I've looked around and didn't find a second one. None of the circuit breakers are label for the outdoor outlets and they are all in the "on" position. All the indoor outlets work fine. What other troubleshooting steps can I do before forking out $$ for an electrician? Thanks!
I have a 120vdc treadmill motor that has a motor controller board and a transformer to operate it. My question is is there any way to rigg it up to a 12v deep cycle battery. I was thinking all i would need is some sort of step up transformer 9-1 if they make it or 10-1. I would aslo like to have speed control which i assume would work through lowering the voltage. It runs fine off the 12v batter just not near the rpms i need. I know it will drain the deep cycle very fast but im not worried about that.
I installed an Intermatic brand programmable timer switch to operate some outside house lights (2 CFLs, total 30 watts). The thing worked for a few months and then became non-operational. I just realized that the sticker on the back of the timer switch states "max load ratings: 15 amp, 120 vac", and the circuit I installed it on is 20 amps. Is this why the switched failed? If so, why did it work for a few months? I thought 'load' was the amount of power needed to operate whatever is downstream of the switch, in this case my outside lights, which is under one amp?
Thanks! |
